There are two routes to drive to Keswick from the South - a scenic route taking in much of the Central Lakes, or a more direct route using faster roads and motorways.
The scenic route........
Driving North along the M6 exit at Junction 36 Kendal, taking the A590 to Kendal then the A591 through Windermere and Ambleside. Continue along the A591 passing through Grasmere with Thirlmere on your left following signs to Keswick. On nearing Keswick, go down the hill following signs for Keswick town centre. Continue along Penrith Road passing Travis Perkins, the petrol station and under the dis-used railway bridge with the River Greta on your right. As you approach a set of traffic lights, you will see Linnett Hill on the left. At these lights, take the immediate left hand turn into Southey Street and after only 100 metres take the first left into Shorley Lane (Easedale House is on the corner) where you will find our large car park at the rear of Linnett Hill. Reception is located from the car park.
The direct route........
Continue North on the M6 exiting at Junction 40 Penrith, taking the A66 to Keswick (about 16 miles). Take the first turning off the A66 signposted A591 to Keswick and Windermere. At the T-junction turn right down the hill following signs for Keswick town centre. Continue along Penrith Road passing Travis Perkins, the petrol station and under the dis-used railway bridge with the River Greta on your right. The nearest railway station to Keswick is at Penrith on the West Coast Mainline. A bus service (X5) can be found immediately outside the station entrance and connects with Keswick bus station in about 40 minutes. Linnett Hill is just a 5 minute walk from Keswick bus station located at the front of Booths supermarket in town - or ask the driver for the bus stop at the war memorial/Fitz Park, Linnett Hill is 25 metres from this bus stop.
Leaving Booths walking 50 metres to the mini roundabout turning right towards the market square. Walk through the square and turn left at The Inn pub just past the Moot Hall onto Station Street and up to Penrith Road. Linnett Hill can be found on the right opposite the war memorial and Fitz Park.
